Interview With Kaden Aka Vipergq

1uaFXf8tEAmfploRfbpS0abwYJI0988How did you get started with bodybuilding?

Well I started working out with weights as a kid at age 16. Before that I had always competed in sports, but seing action stars on TV such as Arnold Swarzeegger, jean Claude Van Damme, and Sylvester stalone made me want to aspire to have the body they had. Like most guys, I started working out initially to impress girls.

What fuels your motivation?

Nowadays, I lift specifically for performance 1/2 the year and the other half of the time I incorporate isolation lifts and concentrate a little bit more for looks. I compete in Powerlifting meets and winning keeps me motivated to continually train at the highest level. I have always been a competitor and setting new challenging goals allows me to push past my comfort level in order to succeed.

body275Did you have a bodybuilding coach help you get started?

No, I have been mostly self taught and have gotten alot of my information through research and studies. With the knowledge that I learned, I applied them to my workouts and through trial and error, I figure out the routines and techniques that work best for what I am trying to accomplish. Everything I do requires a different eating and exercise routine and I do plenty of research before blindly diving into a program.

So what is the bodybuilding training routine that you use to have that killer physique?

I lift with heavy compound movements with High intensity as well as volume. Squats, Deadlifts, BenchPress, Pull ups, Rows, and Military press make up the majority of my workouts. During the Spring and Summer months, I begin to add isolation movements such as curls, Calve raises, Situps and such for more aesthetic purposes. I believe in training like an athlete as opposed to just training for looks. As you get stronger and faster, as long as your calories are in check, the physique will come automatically.

When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?

It depends on the situation, If I am trying to get lean for the summer and the main focus is appearance, then I do so with proper diet and intense workouts with lots of drop sets and supersets. I’ll add slow intensity cardio for a bit to create more of a calorie deficit if needed, but I do very little cardio during these types of cuts. I believe that creating a calorie deficit using diet and weight training is a lot more beneficial than high cardio from a body composition standpoint. On the other hand, Cardio for the sake of strengthening you heart and improving endurance is a completely different animal and I firmly believe that HIIT works wonders for improving endurance. Both have their place in increasing athletic based performance.

What is your Diet/Supplementation like?

I eat relatively clean most of the time. Most of the time unless I am cutting weight I have snacks and enjoy what I eat. I am not a huge stickler like most people are. I believe to an extent that calories are calories as long as you get your body’s protein and nutrient needs. Because of this I enjoy myself at the dinner table. As long as I at maintenance calories and working out frequently, I will not gain any fat. When I cut, I become very strict. I have my meals and timing down perfectly. I generally prefer to cut with low carbs ,moderate fat, and High protein. This seems to have the best response for my body.

Plans for the future?

Every year I add some new goals that I want to accomplish. a Few years ago my goal was to get in fantastic shape and do it in the shortest time possible, Then I wanted to compete and win in Powerlifting meets, This year I am looking to get some professional MMA fights under my belt and possibly train for a marathon…No matter what I decide to do, I am always looking to push myself to the next level.
