How did you get started with bodybuilding?
I have gone to the gym since I was 18 off and on, last May I saw a copy of Oxygen magazine in the store, and when I read through it, I was amazed at the bodies in there. I wanted to have a body like that, not the skinny fat person I was, so I started eating clean and going to the gym everyday using some of the ideas from Oxygen and Tosca Renos Eat Clean books. Now I am hooked, no hit or miss anymore, I go because I can see all those lovely muscles, and that makes me happy.
Where does your motivation come from?
The physical changes I see in mirror, my bodyspace friends, the progress pictures I take, and the way my clothes fit.
What is your training philosophy?
Do whatever makes you feel good who cares what other people think or say, lift as much as you can 6-12 reps, go to the gym everyday, no excuses, and eat clean. Move and eat!
If you have to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?
- Squats
- Push Ups
- V-Up Sit Ups
I can do them all at home when I cant make it to the gym, and the 3 together make for a total body workout.
When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?
I prefer HIIT because the treadmill isn’t my friend and I cant imagine spending an hour or more on that thing everyday. So, when I do any cardio at all I spend 10-15 minutes on the treadmill, I only do cardio about 3-4 times a month. I modify my diet by cutting carbs to maintain, so I don’t have to do cardio.

What is your philosophy on nutrition?
I eat clean everyday every meal, as much organic as possible. I try to eat every 2-3 hours, and am in the process of gaining weight so I am getting about 2400-3000 calories a day.
What are your favorite meals and foods?
Steel cut oats with apple pie spice and egg whites, ground bison with garlic and onion, egg white omelette’s with tomato and basil, Greek yogurt with whey protein and berries, mixed salad greens with berries, pecans, and turkey, boneless, skinless chicken breast with lemon and pepper, baked sweet potatoes with pumpkin pie spice, Chinese chicken and broccoli without the sauce, grapefruit, almonds, Fuji apples, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon, jalapenos, bell peppers, lean ground turkey, egg whites, bison, lean ground sirloin, chicken breast, Ezekiel cereal and bread, raw granola, flax crackers, wasabi, balsamic vinegar, hot sauce, salsa, and natural peanut butter with whey protein mixed in.
Favorite cheat food?
I do not cheat with food, it just starts a cycle of craving that I don’t want to deal with. I have found by eating clean that the cravings go away after a few months, and for that I am most grateful. BUT in my perfect world where the cravings wouldn’t come back it would have to be either chocolate ice cream with peanut butter or cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. If I do cheat its a glass of wine at the end of a long day.

What supplements do you use that give you great results? How do you use them?
I have become addicted to Nanovapor for a preworkout drink, it gives me a great pump, and the energy to smoke through the most intense workout. I have also been using Isopure whey protein, I mix it into my Greek yogurt and smoothies, that way I am sure to get my protein everyday, even if my diet is off.
Favourite Bodybuilders?
I was flipping through a bodybuilding magazine at the gym one day and came across this spread of Erin Stern, and was just blown away. I then asked the girl behind the desk if I could pull out the article, she just smiled and nodded, and it has been up on my refrigerator ever since.

Erin Stern
