Anthony Bartoline, an inspirational bodybuilder/model from New Jersey, learn abit about his life.
My Story:
My name is Anthony Bartoline and I’m 25 years old, born and raised Jersey boy, product of the east coast muscle mentality. Since day one for me life has been about sports and hard work. I have been an athlete since the age of 4 all the way through College at Rowan University. I was always in great shape and loved lifting till one day it was all taking away from me. That’s when I had to choose to either fold or DO WORK!
Two years ago…
While I was on my way to training, a van ran a stop sign and I ended up in the side of it going 40 mph on my Suzuki gsxr 750. I should have died but instead I broke my hand in 9 spots, tore 3 tendons, and had 3 dislocations all in my right hand. After surgery, which included 6 rods and 45 stitches, the hand specialist told me it that I probably wouldn’t be able to write again with my right hand or use it like I use to. Now mind you I’m right hand dominant. Also before all this happened I was captain of my power lifting team in high school and played ice hockey in college. I was very active and lifting was a huge part of my life so to hear that kind of news it left me in tears for a while After the first couple weeks of being depressed and not really knowing where to go next I decided at 22 I had a lot more life to live on MY TERMS.
I endured 9 months of rehab…
and even with a cast on my arm I started hitting the gym again. Any exercises I could do without using my grip I would do. Lots of legs and cardio, but also machines that I didn’t need to really hold onto, like the fly machine that you only use your forearms to close. On a daily basis in the gym I had people staring and also coming up to me and applauding my efforts. The gym owner even wouldn’t let me pay for my membership while in the cast lol. None of that really matter to me though, I really just wanted to get back to where I was prior to my accident.
The pain I went through…
in rehab and in training while in a cast was beyond anything I have ever felt before in my life, but for 9 months I made promises to myself that pain is temporary and achievements last forever. My hand permanently doesn’t close the right way and I have 3 spots of arthritis already in it. If you look at some of my pics lifting you can see my right hand messed up. But now I’m back training harder than ever. I was 22 at the time of accident and now at 25 I’m back to personal training clients again, I’m a fitness and tattoo model, and also a Cellucor sponsored athlete. All my life my father preached his ethics of hard work yields rewards on to me and I love him for that. He instilled the thought that no matter what if you work hard and wants something bad enough nothing can stop you. I won’t stop till I die and when I do you can bury my ass in an extra wide box.
Me Doing Work
Current Diet:
I am currently on a carb cycle type diet. High days and low days. My protein intake on high days is about 1.2 grams per lb of b
ody weight and on low carb days it’s around 1.5 grams per lb of body weight. Most of my carbs on all days are within my first 4 meals, I try to eat about 6-7 times a day. Prior to work outs I carb up also about 1-2 hrs before. Caffeine is my best friend lol.
Training Routine:
Day 1- Chest, abs
Day 2 - Back, 30 mins cardio
Day 3 – Legs, abs
Day 4 - Shoulders, 30 mins cardio
Day 5 - Arms, abs
Day 6 - 1hr Cardio, abs, and calves
Where you find motivation:
I’m inspired By the DO WORK CREW. It’s something that was started in high school sports. It’s a motto, a battle cry, and most of all a lifestyle of going passed your own limits to get the job done and accomplish more than those who can’t DO WORK. I recently brought the DO WORK CREW onto Bodyspace where we are over 330 people deep. It Seems like a lot of people can related to BUSTING THERE ASS WITHOUT EXCUSES TO ACCOMPLISH THEIR GOALS.
Who you look up to:
My father is my hero; he is a fireman and a concrete worker HE DOES WORK ALL DAY LOL.
Favourite quote:
