Tiffany Forni Talks With Simplyshredded.com

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I got started with bodybuilding by accident. I was 100 pounds overweight during college. It was not my intention to get in fantastic shape, I just wanted to lose a little weight. One day I was impulse shopping at a mall and found a supplement store… I went inside and asked the cute guy at the counter “Do you have any diet pills that will make me lose weight without dieting or working out?” The guy said “no”… then proceeded to school me on the way that bodybuilders eat and live. I thought I’d give the bodybuidler lifestyle a try and within the first month of dieting lost 30 pounds!!! I kept going back to that store to learn more from the guy and eventually, started to research on my own. One day someone suggested I compete in figure.. I dismissed it at first but then the thought was there in the back of my mind… and I gave it a chance. :) I’ve loved it ever since!

What is your diet like?

My diet is that of a typical bodybuilder or figure competitor… The main things are

  1. Eat every 3 hours
  2. Drink a gallon of water every day
  3. Protein with every meal
  4. Eat veggies (even if they don’t make you smile)
  5. No fruit, dairy, candy, or extra sugar.

It’s really that simple. I also do a pre and post workout shake.

Where does your motivation come from?

At first motivation came from seeing the changes that I made and wanting to do better and better. I worked hard, and having a competition to work for kept me going. Now my motivation comes from every single email and message I get from people telling me that my story has inspired them. Every time I read an email like that it makes me want to get back in the gym, eat something bland, and sleep an extra hour. Those things make the difference. Knowing that there are people that have changed their life because of how you have changed yours is the biggest compliment that I could ever receive. That keeps me going. (That and to get the cute guy at the supplement store… ;)

When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?

I like to do a combination of both. Since I’m usually pressed for time I try and get in HIIT in the morning and then some regular cardio in the evenings. I always take a day or two off of cardio every week.

What is your supplementation like?

You can find my current supplementation plan on my bodyspace profile. I update it every time I change supplements. There are a few that I never go without though.
1. Multivitamins (Universal Nutrition’s Animal Pak)
2. BCAA’s (Scivation’s Extend)
3. Fat Burners (I rotate between Cellucor’s D4 Thermal Shock and D4 Extreme)

Plans for the future?

I am working on a project right now to help people learn about what it REALLY takes to lose weight and how fitness has helped change both my life and the life of my coach. My coach Big T and I thought that getting people into a new place to learn would be a great way to get our message across. I also plan on getting my IFBB pro card in 2010. I will be competing at the USA’s… let’s see how that goes before I name off any plans to compete next. :)
