How did you get started with bodybuilding?

Started weight training about march 2007 just to keep fit, luckily meeting a few mates in the gym and after weeks of intense training and growing I was encouraged to compete. At that stage I had no idea what they meant!! I was visualising weight lifting or something but was a lot clearer when I was given a DVD to take home and watch. I liked the concept of it all but knew it would be an effort to get on stage, as a kid I was shy but that soon changed thanks to Adam Fennel.

Where does your motivation come from?

Seeing the results of hard work and commitment help keep me motivated and on track. Also the support of my beautiful partner and wonderful family. I am also lucky enough to be the manager of Australian Sports Nutrition in Richmond (Australia) where I continually get to see customers achieve their goals which I find very satisfying and inspirational.

What is your training philosophy?

Correct form is essential!!! Heavy training is also vital to get me to the size I need to be however if you can’t lift it with perfect technique then you shouldn’t be lifting it.

If you have to pick only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?

  • Biceps: 21′s – Would have to be my favourite
  • Legs: Lunges – I hate them but they have to be done!!
  • Abs: Upside down of course. I love my gravity boots

When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?

Normal cardio does me just fine…I might occasional do a spin class to shock my body but 98% of the time its slow and steady.

What is your philosophy on nutrition?

My beliefs on nutrition vary greatly between on and off season. Once my mind is set on a goal then its clean eating 150%. However in the off season I enjoy what I want, when I want.

What are your favorite foods?

Nothing better than a packet of Tim Tams or 10 LOL, but love my pizza, and lasagna… yummy
