How did you get started with bodybuilding?
I got started with bodybuilding about a year after meeting my girlfriend. We were watching some show on MTV and it had these crazy buff guys on it and she kept making comments about how I should start working out. I’m an extremely insecure person at times especially since I was always “the skinny kid.” What she was saying was hitting me deep, so a few days later I got a gym pass and after reading almost every article I could find I hit the gym with the energy and motivation of a monster.
Where does your motivation come from?
My motivation comes from my girlfriend still, she loves seeing my progress and what not and I love being able to showoff what I have came to be. Like I said I used to be the skinny kid. Every rep I do I’m thinking come on Brendan one more for Maricela, and another for you!

So what is the bodybuilding training routine that you use to achieve that killer physique?
When I started working out I was doing a 5×5 split something like rippetoes with a little twist. Now I like to stick to something I call the strength / size combo. Bodybuilding is a sport of learning how your body reacts to different things. I like to throw in everything in every workout. ( supersets, triple sets, pre exhaustion sets, 5×5 training for compound lifts, etc.
When trying to cut down do you prefer to use HIIT or just normal cardio?
I think the best way to “cut down” for a show is to mix slow jogging with very intense workouts.
What is your Diet like?
I eat 4 – 5 big meals throughout the day and take 2 – 3 shakes depending on what I ate that day. I’m definitely not the richest person and I’m only 18 so whatever money I make goes towards food. A sample breakfast right now would be something like: 4 scrambled eggs, 6 strips of bacon, 2 packets of oatmeal mixed with milk.

What is your supplementation like?
My favorite supplements are Green Magnitude and Myofusion. Although Myofusion is quite expensive I mainly look for cheap deals on wheycheap.com, like I said I’m not very wealthy.
Plans for the future?
I’d love to compete somewhere in the near future, imagine the feeling of being on a magazine cover or something ?
Favorite Bodybuilders?
I gotta say my favorite bodybuilder is Flex Wheeler, watching him train before I train gives me a huge motivation. I also love watching Kai Greene, I’ve stolen quite a few things from his training.
Favorite Quote?
A quote I live by while entering the gym:
“GO HARD OR GO HOME”
So many people I see walking around the gym doing absolutely nothing, if you’re here make the best of it and give it your all. Its the only way you will see results.
A quote I like to live by would have to be:
Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are. Pretty sure Theodore Roosevelt said this.
