Bobby Rosen from simplyshredded.com talks with the sponsored AnimalPak Athlete Big Al Fortney regarding Leg Training & Nutrition
Do you eat any extra calories to prepare for a leg training day?
We normally train legs on Sunday around noon. This is much earlier than a normal day so I do try to get one big meal in and then a light snack befor heading to the gym.
What is your favorite leg exercise and why?
Leg Press is my favorite because I can make the legs work hard but not risk my back as much.
Are legs one of your body parts that grew easy or did they take extra work to get them big?
Well,I wrestled for many years so I didnt train legs much when I first started. Then I was powerlifting so they got strong but not so big. So I guess they took Work to get them growing.
Big Al’s Leg Routine

Some people might say your form isn’t very good on some of your leg exercises, what do you say back?
Well when I squat I sit my ass on the floor but on legpress I do only come down to where I feel the hamstrings take over. Some say I should go deeper I say if there legs are better than mine then maybe I’ll try something new. You know the old saying”if it ain’t broke”.
Most bodybuilders swear by squats, do you think they are necessary?
I think squats are great if you do them right. Most guys dont squat right so they end up injuring something. I dont squat often because its hard on my elbows to hold the bar on my back with a lot of weight. Just a personal thing but I get more work out of the legpress.
Anything you would like to add?
Yes I want to thank my workout partners for helping me load and unload the damn legpress. LOL And Animalpak.com for all there support. Just remember we do this for fun so enjoy your time in the gym!!!!
